If you’re a boutique owner like myself, you’ll be wearing many hats when it comes to opening your boutique. Not only will you be a sales associate, but you’ll also be an accountant, manager, buyer, interior designer, and so on. In this post, I would like go over boutique interior decor ideas and how to add some fun color with simple items.
Creating an Inviting Space
We’ve all heard that first impressions are everything and that could not be more true than in your boutique. Before a customer even walks through the door, they are judging your boutique based on how it looks.
Are your visual displays catching their eye? Does your boutique look too expensive? Are there any sales going on?
There is no wrong answer to any of these questions – it just depends on who the target customer is for your boutique.
Having your target customer in mind at every decor decision will help to make your boutique as inviting as possible so they walk right through your doors!
Adding color with decor is a small but effective way to create an inviting space for your customers. It’s easy to add a pop of color to your boutique with smaller decor items. Pillows for couches or chairs near the fitting rooms, hanging artwork, vases on shelves, rugs, or other decorative wall hangings are all great ideas to add some pizzazz to your boutique space.
Here are a few throw pillow options to spice up your waiting area or fitting room area with some color:
I also love this canvas as something fun for a fitting room –
Vases are also a great option to add color in your boutique – both with the vase and with fresh flowers –
And how fun are these wall hangings for jewelry? –
Choosing Colorful Decor from Inspiration
Most designers like to have inspiration for their designs. Inspiration can come from anywhere. You can get ideas for design from pictures, travel, fabric – just about anything holds inspiration!
I recently have been inspired by my upcoming trip to Greece. Looking at photos of all of the places I want to visit especially in Santorini have made me fall in love with white and blue seen all over the island.

How to Choose Colors
While a pop of color can definitely be a good thing, it is also possible to have too much color as well. You don’t want to choose colors and patterns that may send your customers running away from your boutique either. Try to stick to colors that compliment each other and a good rule of thumb is to not mix too many different patterns together.
In the end, your boutique should be a reflection of your tastes with a combination of keeping in mind what you think your customer would like as well.
What are some of your favorite colorful decor items?
